JOHNSON CREEK'S ATHLETIC DREAM
In April of 2014, the Johnson Creek School District passed an $18.9 million referendum to build a new educational facility for grades five through twelve. This much-anticipated five-dome facility will replace an outdated, outgrown facility in the fall of 2016.
Concurrently, in order to reduce the cost to taxpayers, the board also made the decision to remove funding for the athletic fields project. Instead, the $2.5 million funds needed for this project will be collected through generous donations and the sales of naming rights to area businesses.
The athletic facilities, consisting of a football field, track, baseball and softball diamond, gymnasium and fitness center, are more than just sports venues. These facilities will provide a place for all physical education students to learn about the importance of physical health and a place for the marching band to practice. They’ll also serve as a community center, where the people of Johnson Creek can come together and enjoy each other.
