Distinguished Alumni Award Information

The Alumni Award Program started in 2005 through the efforts of the Johnson Creek Education Foundation and the Johnson Creek Board of Education. The purpose of the award program is to identify and recognize outstanding achievements of alumni of hte Johnson Creek School District. It honors these individuals as role models for our students and encourages them to broaden their horizons and increase their commitment to future success.

The Nomination Process:

Anyone can nominate a person for Distinguished Alumnus.
Nominations must describe how the candidate has distinguished him/herself in a field of knowledge/scholarship, endeavor or a lifetime achievement.
Nomination forms will be available in the Johnson Creek District Office or on this page below.
The deadline for submission is April 1.

The Nominee:

Must be a graduate of Johnson Creek High School.
He or she must be out of school a minimum of ten years.
The nominee cannot be a current employee, school board member, committee member, or relative of the above at the time of nomination or receipt of the award.
The recipient must be available to personally receive his/her award at commencement ceremonies.

The Award:

The final selection will be made by a committee of the Johnson Creek Education Foundation comprised of the High School Principal, the Senior Class Advisors, the Student Council President, the Senior Class President and 2 members from the Education Foundation.
There will be no more than one award per year.
The award will be presented to the recipient at graduation.
Announcements/publicity of the award and recipient will be provided to area media, both here and in the area identified by the recipient.

Troy Blakey

2018

Troy Blakey has been named the Johnson Creek Education Foundation 2018 Distinguished Alumnus. The award was presented at the Johnson Creek High School graduation on Sunday, June 10th, at 2:00 pm in the Weis Center at Johnson Creek Middle/High School. Blakey attended Johnson Creek Schools from kindergarten thru 12th grade. In high school, he participated in many sports, football, baseball, track, cross country but he excelled in wrestling. He earned two conference championships and a trip to the state wrestling tournament his senior year.

Blakey was also active in student government where he served as a class officer and as student council president.

Following high school, Blakey attended Coe College in Iowa and UW- Whitewater. In college he was involved in wrestling and ROTC.

In 1994 he began working for a local electrical contractor, obtaining valuable “on the job” training. Several years later he went to work for a large contractor and trained to become a project manager. After seven years of on the job experience and many classroom hours, he obtained a Wisconsin Master Electrical License. In late 2000 Blakey started an electrical contracting business, Midwest Electric, out of his garage. The first couple of years he concentrated on small residential remodels and a few new homes. After six years and some significant growth, he built an office and warehouse. Throughout the next 12 years he has focused on commercial and industrial contracts. His business continues to grow. Midwest Electric vehicles are seen at jobs sites throughout the area. He also owns a real estate investment company with many properties throughout the area.

Blakey has many hobbies and passions, such as hunting, golfing or working on various projects but none stand out more than his family. Troy and Nicole Blakey have 3 children, two who attend Johnson Creek Schools. Owen, in 4th grade, enjoys football. Madison, in 1st grade, rides horses. Piper will start school this fall. His family and businesses keep him very busy, but he always finds time and resources to support anything local. He feels it’s very important that he gives back to the school district and community that he grew up in.
